An End of Year Message and Best Wishes for 2022
To all my colleagues, clients, candidates, and readers:
As 2021 comes to a close and a fresh new year begins, I have been reflecting on the things that occurred this year that I am sure I will find most memorable in the near and distant future. It’s been a crazy year in so many aspects, yet I find myself focusing on the immense growth that both I personally and JBC/Janou Pakter have experienced.
I will always remember 2021 as the year where after nearly a decade in business, JBC went through a massive rebrand and we successfully launched JBC.team to reflect the maturation of our offerings. We’ve already been able to reach so many more people to help them find the team members or job that they need as a result of better public exposure to our offerings, and we’re just getting started. This was a much-needed change, but certainly one close to my heart, and I will surely look back on this year as a huge milestone in the JBC story.
I will also reflect on 2021 as the year we pioneered our first ever hybrid work model. One of the things I’ve always been proud of here at JBC/Janou Pakter is my colleagues’ desire to collaborate with each other in a meaningful way, and we worked hard to ensure that could happen in-person. The way we work has changed forever, and I really mean that positively. It’s scary, but exciting to be able to offer more flexibility to my team that allows everyone to tailor their work to their lives in an effective way.
Additionally, I will acknowledge a personal goal that I have had in mind for a while but finally achieved with some regularity in 2021 - this newsletter. I am humbled by the kind words and feedback that I have received with each article, and hope that it has shed some helpful light on the ideas I’ve been sitting on for a while but never put to paper (or whatever you call a blank white screen). If nothing else, it has been a learning experience for me and will be an interesting time capsule of my own thoughts that I hope to build upon.
We of course could not have gotten through this year without our clients, and I thank each and every one of you for your business through what has been a big growth and rebuilding year of your internal teams. It hasn’t been easy recovering from the onset of Covid-19, but it’s the people you have onboard who have made that happen. We at JBC and Janou Pakter are honored to have played a role in that rebuild and expansion, and look forward to continuing our partnership in the future ahead.
To our candidates, who are at the core of our business: we appreciate the trust you have placed in us this year to understand your career and (with luck) help you find your next role. 2021 has largely been the “Year of the Jobseeker” and we hope to bring you just as many incredible opportunities in the coming year.
And finally, this letter would be seriously remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the talented group of colleagues I have here at JBC and Janou Pakter. Thank you for the hard work and care that each of you have committed this year. We were thrown into the deep end in 2020, but have emerged stronger than ever in 2021. I am incredibly excited to dive into 2022 with each of you and look forward to watching you and supporting you crush your goals and exceed all expectations for the new year ahead.
So, what’s next for 2022? I’m truly looking forward to the return to a more normal working environment. While we still plan to let our JBC’ers work primarily remotely, currently our New York office is undergoing an extensive remodel to create a safer and more welcoming space when we do gather for some camaraderie. We’re also looking forward to a website, marketing and digital relaunch for Janou Pakter in order to serve our candidates and clients more effectively and highlight the great growth and maturity of our brand. However, what I’m really looking forward to in 2022 and beyond is taking advantage of the potential for further learning and adaptability that we have just started to scratch the surface on during this year.
Happy holidays to you, your families, and your friends; and cheers to a prosperous New Year. I cannot express how much I appreciate your continued support as we get set to tackle 2022 head on.
Wishing all the best,
Founder/CEO of JBC, CEO of Janou Pakter
